The East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) will hold its 100th Semi-Annual Board of Director’s Meeting on Thursday, September 24, as a virtual event beginning at noon. Among other items, the board will consider the budget and planning guide for ETCOG operations for the fiscal year, October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021.
“ETCOG provides a forum for elected officials to solve common problems,” said ETCOG Executive Director, David Cleveland. “With local elected official guidance and consent, we administer and manage the state and federal grant programs for which we receive funds. Through various grant funding mechanisms, ETCOG administers grants and delivers services through four major service areas, including Workforce & Economic Development, Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and Housing, Public Safety, and Transportation.”
The FY 2021 budget, totaling $58,096,396, reflects an overall increase of $618,319 compared to the FY 2020 budget. The majority of this increase is due to funds provided by the CARES Act and increase in the Transportation and Public Safety Safety-911 programs due to additional funding received for capital equipment. A copy of the proposed budget and other ETCOG financial and reporting documents are available to view on our financials page.
The meeting includes business items such as recommendations for Executive Committee service and officers, discussion and approval of the FY 2021 budget, presentation of the Chairman’s Service Award, and recognition of the current Chairman’s service.
ETCOG’s Board of Directors includes elected officials representing the ETCOG membership of cities, counties, special districts, and school districts in the 14-county East Texas region. You may view the meeting agenda and details to join virtually on our open meetings page.
