The East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) has municipal solid waste management grant project funding available to local governments for FY 2022. This grant funding is for establishing or expanding projects which would provide a direct and measurable effect on reducing the amount of waste going into Texas landfills by diverting various materials from the municipal solid waste stream for beneficial use or by reducing waste generation at the source. In accordance with the statutory provision, a project or service funded under this grant program must promote cooperation between public and private entities and may not be otherwise readily available or create a competitive advantage over a private industry that provides recycling or solid waste services.
Therefore, we inform you that ETCOG has received nine project applications from local governments, which will be available for your review online at https://www.etcog.org/fy22-grant-applications from Monday, October 11, 2021, through Friday, October 22, 2021. ETCOG will accept written comments from private service providers regarding their concerns that a project conflicts with the above provisions through October 22, 2021. Those service providers that submit written comments may make oral comments at the ETCOG Solid Waste Advisory Committee scoring meeting held on Tuesday, October 26, in the ETCOG Large Conference Room at 9:00 AM, located at 3800 Stone Road Kilgore, TX.
