ETCOG's Solid Waste program will issue a call for applications for its annual Municipal Solid Waste grant funds on August 12. Funding from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will be available to support East Texas's regional solid waste minimization efforts. Applicants must be located within the ETCOG 14-county service area, which includes Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood counties.
Grant funding requests must align with the goals and objectives of the ETCOG Regional Solid Waste Management Plan, which provides guidelines for current and future solid waste management to local governments in the region. A copy of the updated plan can be found at www.etcog.org/solid-waste. This year, our committee will prioritize projects aligning with Regional Solid Waste Management Goal 2, focusing on reducing illegal dumping.
Entities eligible for funding under this program include cities, counties, public schools, school districts, and special districts created in accordance with state law with the authority and responsibility for water quality protection or municipal solid waste management, including river authorities.
The Request for Applications instructions and application forms will be available online at www.etcog.org/solid-waste-grants.
ETCOG will also host a solid waste grant workshop on August 21, which all applicants must attend.
