ETCOG's Solid Waste program is now accepting applications for its annual Municipal Solid Waste grant funds. Approximately $93,400 is estimated to be available from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) allocated funds to East Texas's regional solid waste minimization efforts. Local governments and special districts may apply for funds by applying to ETCOG by September 15, 2023, no later than 4:00 PM. Applicants must be in the ETCOG 14-county service area, including Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood counties.
“Something unique to this grant opportunity, through the development of our newly updated and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, approved Regional Solid Waste Management Plan, is a redirection of new project goals and objectives for our region for the next 20 years," said ETCOG's Economic Development Specialist, Lisa Smith. "We invite all interested applicants to join us for our required grant workshop, where we will overview the new changes and requirements and how to successfully apply."
Grant funding requests must support the goals and objectives of the ETCOG Regional Solid Waste Management Plan. The purpose of the Plan is to provide guidelines for current and future solid waste management to local governments in the region. A copy of the updated plan can be found at www.etcog.org/solid-waste.
