Illegal dumping is a growing problem in East Texas. It's important to understand that local governments, not the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, are primarily responsible for addressing this issue.
To help local officials, we're hosting a free "Substandard Structure Investigations, Abatement, and Enforcement" workshop this month on September 30th.
Workshop Details:
Illegal dumping harms communities by lowering property values, increasing cleanup costs, and threatening public health. This workshop will provide local officials with the tools and knowledge to combat this issue effectively.
Led by Donald "Chip" Matthews from the Texas Illegal Dumping Resource Center, the workshop will cover best practices for investigating and abating substandard structures. Attendees will receive electronic materials and a certificate of completion upon completing the class. We will provide an online exam for law enforcement officers, as required by TCOLE.
Please register in advance to secure your spot. For more information, contact ETCOG's Economic Development Specialist, Bridget Booty, at 903-218-6421.
